Jewellery

Brass is a yellow metal alloy of copper and zinc. It has been used in jewellery making in Morocco and around the world for many, many years. Brass is a traditional and sustainable choice for the jewellery, as much of the brass used today is from recycled sources. As an affordable alternative to gold, brass allows us to make original, luxurious statement pieces, at accessible prices.

Brass is a beautiful material that may need a little love from time to time, as it will tarnish and patina with age. Some people love the patina that comes with age, while others prefer to maintain a bright and shiny look. The jewellery is made from solid uncoated brass. This means that it is easy to clean, and the colour will not wear off.

There are quite a few different ways to clean the brass jewellery. The simplest way to clean and polish the brass jewellery is with a jewellery polishing cloth, which are inexpensive and readily available online. You will find these cloths useful for your other jewellery pieces too. All the brass pieces can also be polished with a brass cleaner {like Brasso} and a soft cloth.

To delay tarnishing, keep your jewellery away from moisture, steam, excessive heat and chemicals (soaps, perfumes, deodorants and cosmetic lotions). Always apply lotions and sprays prior to wearing your jewellery. Store your jewellery in a safe, dry place. Some of the brass jewellery incorporates leather or has leather neck straps. Simply wipe the leather clean with a damp cloth as needed.

Bags

Each bag is handmade by skilled artisans in Marrakech. A variety of high-quality leathers are used that will wear in beautifully over time. The leather and textiles (for lining etc) are carefully chosen for their purpose, appearance, texture and character.

Please note that there may be slight colour and grain variations from bag to bag. Please also note that the transfer of leather dye onto light coloured fabrics is possible. Please also be aware that unwashed or dark denim may rub off onto the lighter coloured leather. Please take this into consideration with the first few wears.

A little tender loving care goes a long way in the preserving the condition of your Hamimi bag.

Clean – Wipe with a soft damp cloth {make sure it is just damp, not wet} Use a specialised leather bag cleaner for stubborn marks or dirt. Be aware that this may discolour the leather, so be sure to test first on a small patch where possible. Let water drops dry naturally, using heat to dry can damage the leather. Consider consulting a professional leather goods repair if necessary for care.

Protect – It is worth protecting your leather with one of many leather protection products on the market. Just remember to test it on a small part of the bag first as it may discolour the leather.

Store it in a cool, dry place with good air ventilation. When not in use, store your handbag in the dust bag provided.

Since leather is porous, it loses moisture through evaporation. Use a leather conditioner occasionally to keep your bag soft, protected and looking its best. Wipe excess product and allow the bag to air dry completely before storing it.

Never leave your leather bag lying in the sun or exposed to the elements.

Crochet Lamps

The crochet lamps are lovingly handcrafted by artisan woman in a small village on the outskirts of Marrakech. The size and shape of each piece may vary slightly, which we consider a normal part of the handmade process. A little tender loving care goes a long way in preserving their condition and appearance.

Our crochet lights are handcrafted from traditional Moroccan hand-spun viscose ‘kitan’ yarn on handmade solid brass rings. They are intended for interior use only. They should not be used in bathrooms, where the moisture from steam can soften the thread fibres and cause them to become mis-shaped.

Dust/clean regularly with a feather duster, lint roller and/or vacuum with a furniture nozzle attachment. They can also be wiped clean with a lightly dampened cloth after any dust is removed via any of the fore-mentioned methods.

Diffusers

How to care for your Classic Reed Diffuser

  • To get the most out of the plant reed sticks, we advise flipping them every two-three weeks. This speeds up the saturation rate and gives the scent diffusion a nice boost.
  • You can control the scent level to suit your preference and room. The more reeds used, the stronger the scent becomes, we recommend four to five reeds for small spaces.
  • Due to the nature of the plant reed sticks being saturated with the fragrance take care to ensure the reeds do not touch painted walls, wallpaper, curtains, polished or synthetic surfaces as this may cause staining.
  • Avoid placing diffusers close to radiators or warm air vents as this will shorten the life of the diffuser, even though the strength of the scent will increase. Room temperatures are very important for the longevity of your diffuser.
  • Don’t forget we also offer refill replacement bottles, which means you can continue to enjoy your favourite scent, we also recommend replacing the plant reed sticks too every 3 months, these too we will stock in 2025.

Candles

  • Candles burn for varying length of time depending on the fragrance and how they are cared for. There is an estimated burning time on each product page, there are also a few other tips which can help the longevity of your candle.
  • Light your candle in a well-ventilated room, away from drafts or fans as this can cause sooting the black particles you may see in the wax and will in turn cause faster uneven burning of the candle wax.
  • It’s recommended to for regular sized candles to burn for up to two hours at a time, burning longer can cause the wick to move, and burning for less can sometimes leave a build-up of wax around the sides of the ceramic holder.

Pebble Wool Pouffes

The Pebble Wool Pouffes are handcrafted by artisans. The size and shape of each piece may vary slightly, which we consider a normal part of the handmade process. The interior filling consists of wool and foam. Gentle cleaning is required using a damp clean cloth and a non-fragrant soap if you develop any stains. Try not to scrub too hard. You can also use a vacuum with a furniture nozzle attachment to pick up any pieces of dust. Once you have finished cleaning allow the pouffe some time to dry naturally in a well ventilated room.

The pouffes are intended for interior use only. They should not be used in bathrooms, where the moisture from steam can soften the thread fibres and cause them to become mis-shaped or brittle.

Clothing

  • Wash at 30 degrees and wash inside out.
  • Do make sure to keep whites separate from dark colours when washing.
  • Once out of the machine, shake the garment into shape while still damp.
  • Dry flat or hang to prevent the need for ironing.
  • We do not recommend using a dryer at all.
  • If you do wish to iron, we recommend using the steam setting, or iron the garment whilst slightly damp, avoid the logo part of the garment as ironing over this will cause damage.

Ceramics

All ceramic products are dishwasher proof and microwave proof.
